It is almost Christmas! I cannot believe how fast the school year is ticking away. The students are learning so much, I am extremely proud of how involved they are with their reading. To date the students have read over 300 novels collectively.
I am so excited by the number of novels, they choose to read on their own, that connects to history. Many of my students are very interested in the period surrounding World War II; they just "gobble" up anything that has to do with this time period. Some of the titles that they are reading, sharing, and referring to one another are T4, The Book Thief, Star Girl, The Boy Who Dared, The Boy in Striped Pajamas, and Milkweed. Other very popular titles are Bomb and Navajo Code Talker.
This week I will be hosting a "Speed Dating" session with the students. Before you jump to conclusions, let me explain. The students will be interacting with books--not members of the opposite sex. The library will be set up with tables featuring novels by different authors, each table will hold a series of novels by the same author allowing students to explore the differ
