Wow! It is so hard to believe that summer is over and the new school year is already in full swing. I can't figure out for the life of me where time goes.
As we enter into our third week of school my students are already devouring novels, which makes me both happy and proud. I think that some are already beginning to pick "favorites". I have not settled on a favorite yet, however I did thoroughly enjoy reading A Single Shard, One Crazy Summer, and The House on Mango Street.
We were fortunate enough to receive funding from the Gates Foundation and an anonymous donor for books to add to our classroom library. The Gates Foundation and our new-found anonymous friend purchased for us 32 new novels to add to our classroom library. It was like Christmas in September last Tuesday when the treasure arrived. I think the Maze Runner series, the Divergent Series, and the Pendragon series are going to be hits this year along with the story of Emmit Till.
Please feel free to stop by my blog often as I write about the goings on in our classroom or reflect back on the week. You never know what you may find posted here. H
